I'm in love...

Wild Hibiscus Cheesecake

Here. Eat this.

Nyam nyam nyam....

Do you know what you are eating?

Uhmmm, yeah. Cheesecake with a blueberry topping.

Cheesecake, yes. Blueberry, no.

Cherry?

No.

Some kind of berry?

No. It's sorrel.

For real?

For REALLY real.

It's good.

Yeah, I know.

Happy Valantine’s Day

  1. Yummy! I recently bought a pie like this, it taste like cheesecake except the berry topping is on the bottom and cream on top of it.

  2. The sorrel topping looks luscious on the cheesecake. Seriously you need to patent your jam. Now, may I have a slice?

  4. Gaelle - here is the link to the recipe for the wild hibiscus preserves that is the topping for this recipe. http://breakfastlunchdinnerandpunch.blogspot.com/search/label/wild%20hibiscus%20flower

I am afraid you may only find the dry not the fresh flowers in your part of the world. There is no recipe because I am working on figuring out a recipe using the dry flowers. My first try at this with the dry flowers wasn't so good.

  5. hibiscus !!! wow..it looks delicously wicked! beautiful!

in answer to ur question....pandan is a south east asian plant....more of an unruly bush really! the leaves are used extensively here in local cakess n desserts, it gives off a baeutiful frangrance n flavour in cakes n desserts IF used fresh.. dreid leaves loose their flavour n frangrance almost completely. n of course u get the lovely green colour too!

now id like to try hibiscus...:)

  6. Ha, I am sipping a drink I made of hibiscus syrup and seltzer water while reading your post. Fate? Proof I have to make this dessert? I feel I am getting some signs.

  12. I don't know why but sweet things, or more like sweet foods, never tempted my palette. Still, I find cheese cake to be be one of the most tempting sweets available, though at a high price. But sorel as a topping, that would make me more curious than a WASA policeman looking at a green lawn in the dry season.
